On Monday the edge banding arrived. I’ve spent most nights this week ironing edge banding on to the edges that will show on the bed. Heather stained the two largest plywood pieces and now we’re ready for some serious assembly this weekend.
The goal to is to get the basic bed box built and start applying the finish. We’re under a bit of a deadline. Our grandkids are coming out for a visit in a couple of weeks and this is one of the beds they’ll be sleeping on so it’s important that the finish have as much time to cure as possible before they arrive.
With a little hard work I hope to be installing the bed in another week.
And I am under instructions to hurry up on this project. Earlier this week Heather was talking to the seven-year old and told him, “Grandpa is making a bed for you to sleep in.”
“He’s making a bed? Well he’d better hurry up,” was the reply.
So there are my orders from a the youngest grandchild – got to hurry up and finish this.
I’ll post pictures in the next up date. Not much to see right now other than a stack of stained plywood.
