Wednesday Woodworking – lots-o-holes in that thing

Here is the progress on the cross for this week.  Not sure if I’ll get it done by Easter as it is really time-consuming.

You might remember the storage unit I built a couple of months ago.  Well, it had a problem.  The thin sliding doors I cut started to warp so I had to make a frame for the doors.  Note two of the frames had to go on the inside so they’d slide by each other.

Had to put a frame on it to keep it from warping.

    Ahh. Your fine artisan’s work reflects so much patience and depth of soul. We “sketchers” would never be able to get such clean line and meticulous detail, let alone to such magnificent scale. Just beautiful.

      Thanks – this will be second one I cut. Three years ago I did one out of cheep plywood and regretted putting that much work into poor materials.

      The wood came from a silver maple tree that had to be cut down at our church. A number of woodworkers took wood home to make projects. One man turned a number of bowls out of the wood which we sold to cover the cost of removing the old tree and planting a replacement.
