Friday’s Music – Kimber’s Men

It’s no secret, I have a non-standard taste in music.  Another of my favorite groups to listen to on YouTube is the British group, Kimber’s Men.  Someday I hope to make it to one of their shows, but the travel time has been a little difficult to arrange.

Instead I’ll just offer a small sample of what they do:

I am off to do some heavy lifting and loud singing,

Andrew

  3. It’s great stuff, isn’t it? I haven’t heard of them before, but I’ll make sure to catch up with one of their gigs, if they are ever up this way. I can understand your love of sea shanties, especially sung, as here, in their true form. If one’s mind can’t embrace the atmosphere on those cold decks when the sea was master and man his servant by hearing these songs, I think one must be mentally dead.

I love these guys and I love the shanties. There is a feeling of the sea, hard work and hardship that one can just feel in the music.

  5. Definitely unique. I don’t listen to much music, and I wish I would.

I wouldn’t try to listen to music and write. I was writing a poem the other day while listening to old John Denver records and suddenly the closing line of every stanza was, “Thank God, I’m a country boy!”

Took days to get that out of my brain.

Ha! Works better to listen to music while doing art. Sometimes I fall to sleep with earbuds in and the music or book enters my dreams…Now that is interesting!!!! Judy
