Wednesday Woodworking – a cat table bed

Our little kitties aren’t so little anymore.  The two big ones now weigh in at about 14 pounds and have out grown the little cute cat beds we bought them two years ago.  I made this corner table for Boots.  Now she has her own large bed in the cat room.

New table for cat bed. Okay, boots has to live over her litter box, but it hasn't bothered her yet.

I put some carpet on the top and Heather found a small dog bed for the large cat (bonus – it was on sale!).  All the wood for the project is just shop scraps that quicky threw together to make this.

If you need me – I’ll be in the shop,
Andrew

  2. Maybe she doesn’t mind being right by her litter box because it’s so convenient. Kind of like a master bedroom with “en suite” bath.

    • Did I mention that I indulge my kitties? The “cat room” started out as being our “summer room.” Then the cats joined us and rather than have them in the house all the time (with 5 that’s too much) we’ve given them a room with a kitty door and they only get to come in the house when we’re home.

  7. I’ve never seen a corner litter box before – that’s clever! As is the table, but my eyes went to the litter box first. 🙂

    • We have a 4 cats so we need lots of litter. We found this extra big on at the local pet shop. Fits the space well. Then I just happened to have a triangle shaped plywood off-cut for table top. It just all came together.

  8. Do the other cats know this is Boots’ bed? Or is there some catty discussion?

    • Oh yes, Bella has been found sleeping in it, but that seemed to be okay as Boot’s was in Bella’s basket. So far there haven’t be any arguments as they seem to treat beds as community property – first come, first sleep.

You’ve seen my boys. Ebony is much bigger than expected. I knew Tux would be larvge since he was born feral.
Hard to believe they are now over 2 years old. I had to buy larger catbeds. They don’t use them much.
Tux likes my lap. Ebo y prefers the 2nd shelf of my cat tree, and Baby sleeps on the swi g rocker in the den.
