I thought about doing a review of my goals for last year along with a list of my goals for the new-year.
I did find one post from last year with a list of goals, but I can’t believe I said I was going to do that stuff. Really, I was planning all that? Well, it didn’t take long for me to forget those were my goals, so we’ll just skip that part of the exercise.
Some nice things did happen last year. On the blogging front I’ve managed to grow my followers from about 800 to just over 1,500. My thanks to all who follow my posts and a big thanks to everyone who takes time to write a comment.
I did get a nice trip to England this year. It was great to see places and people I don’t get to see often. I’ve been mostly healthy all year, except for starting out the year with having to get a CPAP machine for my sleep apnea. I was able to get a lot of stuff done in the workshop this year – even though little of it was planned at the start of the year.
On the writing front, I finished editing my poetry book and started serious work on my novel. I’ve managed to keep my regular posting schedule on my blog, with only a few misses.
Sadly there was the election, which I found disturbing.
I do have things in mind that I’d like to do in the coming year. I’ll list them, but they’re more hopes than actual goals.
- Self publish my cancer poetry book.
- Finish writing my novel.
- Start a new poetry collection and actually submit some to literary magazines.
- Keep doing stuff in the workshop. First project is a total shop reorg.
- Build a new ladder for the kitties (poor dears only have one).
- Exercise more and keep my FitBit happy.
- Participate in a protest march or two.
- Write my elected leaders on a regular basis.
- ROAD TRIP!!!
- Keep this list someplace where I can find it next year.
- Attend a writer’s workshop/conference (do tell if you know of a good one on the west coast).
- Don’t adopt any more cats – the house is full.
That’s a long enough list of things. I will admit to love writing lists – Actually doing the thing on the list, not so much…
Till next week,
Andrew
#10 is the lynchpin, and very amusing. 😀

and the least likely to happen. 😉

I’m not sure I can continue following you until you have that second cat ladder built. Only giving them one is like animal abuse. This should be your first priority once you finish organizing the shop. And the ladder rungs will be wrapped in carpet, right? RIGHT?

You know, my cats are saying the same thing. Don’t fear, I bought a big roll of kitty approved carpet.

It’s a long year…made longer by the outcome of the election, my thought! LOL! I hoping creative interests are an antidote to despair, and you have a very diverse list of creative interests and goals. I think some community organizing (possible protests) is on my list, too. You must surely have good karma–my opinion is based on your interest in creating another kitty ladder! Well done!

creative has always been my source of hope and happiness and a good protest once in awhile is good for the soul.

Wow – congratulations on the over 1,500 followers! Impressive!
And good luck with the list, although I’m sure you’ll do fine. Except for when PetsMart has their kitties for adoption. 🐈

Yeah, PetsMart is going to be a problem…

I find that writing my yearly goals on December 31st of the year in question makes it much more likely for me to attain those goals. For example, I was able to successfully complete all of my 2016 goals that I wrote out on Dec. 31, 2016! BTW, It’s a little trick that I’ve learned from working performance plans at work. 🙂

I forgot about that trick – list what happened and claim it was the plan. Should have talked to you before writing the post. 😉

I am a list person too. When I was working in a laboratory I would make a list every Monday morning of things I needed to do that week. The list seemed endless because the next Monday many of the items on the previous week would get added to the new list. I always made sure to include things I had already accomplished though, just to motivate me. Happy New Year, hope 2017 brings you health and happiness and success in all your challenges

I’m going to a writer conference in San Diego January 20-22nd. It’s put on by SDSU. I went last year and loved it. Is that too far south for you?

That’s not too far (short airplane hop), but that’s a busy weekend for me so the timing might not work out. But it is on my list for next year.

You gotta have a plan…:) sounds like a fun list. I’m curious about what you might protest this year. There should be no shortage of things..:)

There is a great protest list started. I am sure the administration in Washington will provide endless topics to march over.

It still seems you’re expecting a lot out of yourself. I do like the one of going on a few protest marches. I went on a few, myself, when I was young. I’d do it now too except mobility issue prevents it.

As they tell me at work, “Over promise and under perform,” or was that “Under promise and over perform.” I never remember. I am hoping for senior protest marches. You know ones were we go around the block and then have comfy chairs to sit on. Like asking for too much.

Now I could go for a sit-in, easy!

Maybe I should revise my list – didn’t think of a sit-in!!! Great idea.

I hope the sleep apnoea is better at the moment Andrew. This year’s list seems very do-able but things tend to crop up and derail you so we’ll have to wait and compare next year’ list.
Wishing you a Very Happy New Year.

The sleep apnea is under control with the machine. It’s certainly better than last year at this time. We’ll see about the list – Happy New Year!
