Wednesday Woodworking and Writing Update – more cabinets and summer fun.

I haven’t done a Wednesday post in awhile and given my upcoming summer schedule it might be awhile before I do another one.

On the writing front, I continue to add poems to my lectionary collection and have started to collect poems for my “Place” collection.  Likely, I’ll be cutting back on the number of posts I do here over the summer.

I was frustrated that two the poetry workshops I applied for rejected my application.  Even more frustrated that I only applied to two …

I have singed up for a poetry conference that doesn’t do the application/judgemental thing.  More about that later.

Wooding has mostly been boring shop reorg and finally getting this cabinet in place:

The third of three laundry room cabinets. Just needs some doors.

At this point I am out of my recycled plywood and had to buy new.  Next step is adding doors.  Then I’ll start on the lower cabinets.

That’s it from here today.

If you need me – I’ll be in the shop,

Andrew

Whoa… you had to buy plywood? That’s saying something. Sorry about the workshops. You should have offered to make cabinets for them. 😉

Looks good, Andrew. Do you want to come over and make one for me?

I hope you won’t give up on your desire to attend a poetry workshop, Andrew. I think you have talent and a strong, clear voice in your writing. Who knows what subjective analysis was put to your requirements, but I wonder if it is mostly about numbers, and there must be a lot of applicants. You’ll find the right one. Meanwhile, your lectionary project is really interesting. You are a very creative man. Keep at it!

    • Both workshops noted large numbers of applications in their rejections. The two I applied for are held in NorCal – I didn’t want to travel too far to attend one. But I guess I have to go a bit further afield next time. The program I did sign up for is down at Pebble Beach in August so we’ll see how that works out. Sadly my work schedule won’t let me try for anything else this year. Next year.

  4. That’s disappointing about the poetry workshops – bummer. I hope you find a good fit with a different group soon. But at least your cabinets are a success! 🙂

  5. It’s nice you have several hobbies, so one can succeed while another, um, rejects you. I know exactly how you feel. I applied for a writer’s workshop once, located exactly where my setting was and still I was rejected. Did they miss the synergy?
