Friday Wisdom – Shaky Spear

First an announcement: I’m still alive.

Second, over the weekend Heather and I took a friend to see a local Shakespeare in the Park production of “As You Like It.”  Fun show with energetic young actors.

Act II, Scene VII has the famous, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women are merely actors …” line.

Which got me wondering: If all the world’s a stage, where the heck does the audience sit?

Second announcement: I’m off to a writing workshop soon and most of my writing time will be doing the preparations for that.  My next blog post won’t be until I return from that.

    Hmmm…no place for an audience. Now wouldn’t that be something? Wonder if we actors would still give our best performances?? Enjoy your workshop.

    “As You Like It” was the first Shakespeare play I read. I was in junior high school [what they call middle school now]. It was a semester-long assignment in my English class that was discussed every day. Yes, I had passionate English teachers while I was growing up.

        What I’ve been hearing is that the teachers of today feel overwhelmed. If this is true, why did they take the courses to become teachers in the first place? The teachers I had were passionate about their roles as teachers. They felt their jobs were important. I don’t think teachers of today think like that.

          Yes, I’ve been hearing the same. I know two long time teachers who’ve just retired because the newer laws and regulation have turned the job into following rules and not teaching.
