I’ve been traveling more this month than I wanted to. My brother ended up in the hospital and I had to make a couple of road trips to visit him, but today I’m finally home and had time to make progress on these two projects:

This is a filigree cross. Yes, it’s as much work as it looks like. There is somewhere around 200 cutouts for this and I expect it to take 40 hours or so to finish. I am stack cutting this which means when I’m done, I’ll have two fancy crosses. This is a project for Easter.
My other Easter project is making these little things:

This is either an Easter Egg holder or a napkin ring. Your choice. I’m making about a dozen. The wood is poplar from an old cabinet drawer I salvaged. These are fast to cut, these one took less than an hour.
I also put up some outdoor Christmas lights, but something went wrong and only half of the lawn deer are lit up so I didn’t take any pictures of that. Turns out one of the light strings failed and I’m having to order some parts to fix them.
That’s it for this week. I’m might actually be doing more of this next week.
If you need me, I’m in the shop looking for my box of fuses.
The cross is spectacular. Love the bunny too.

The cross is beautiful! And the rabbits are so cute! Such festive napkin rings they would be! Are you going to sell these at a church festival? Love that you salvaged the wood.
I hope your brother will be okay!

My brother is doing better now and is back home. These items I’m doing as gifts. My next project will be for the fall church sale.

I do like the pattern — complex but a great look.

The cross looks like a piece for a cathedral. On the other hand, the detail in the cross looks a lot like the countless leaves in our pastures just waiting to be mulched. All those cutouts – you have admirable patience, my friend.

It was inspired by filigree work seen in cathedrals. and yes, it takes a lot of patience.

Beautiful cutting. I love getting lost in the shop just pushing wood through the saw. And I love using ‘reclaimed’ wood.
I hope your brother is doing better. My partner’s mom had surgery on Monday and our week has been quite disrupted, even though things went ‘as planned’. The hospital is about 40 minutes drive away and we are waiting to hear if she can come home yet. That will be better, as she lives about a kilometer down the road from us.
Have a great week. Your work is beautiful, as always. Take care.

My brother is doing a lot better. He’s back home and gaining strength. Whenever I can I try to use reclaimed wood. I think it makes the projects more interesting.

Wow! Andrew, the cross is a work of art and enjoy cutting out the detailed filigree shapes. What a good idea to stack and do two together. Awww, the bunny is so cute!

Stack cutting is a great way to double your output.

Beautiful work, Andrew, well, except for the lawn deer. Lawn deer?

The cross(es) are beautiful. So intricate! You’re very talented to be able to do that. (The bunnies will be cute too. Just a wee bit less intricate.)
