Here is the progress on the kitchen remodel this week:

They delivered some of the cabinets. I’m told this is about 3/4 of the total cabinets we ordered. There was no other progress. The electictain that was schedule for this week ended up canceling and moving his schedule out to next Wednesday. No progress can be made until the electrical is all roughed in.
sigh …
The scheduled end date for the project just moved out to July 2. I have vague hopes of everything being done by September. I might be expecting too much. In other news, it was warm here today and we just realized that our ice maker is disconnected. This prompted a search for the ice cube trays. Cold drinks will be delayed until tomorrow.
sigh …
With nothing going on in the kitchen, I was able to make some progress on the deck project:

I’m still in demolition mode on this project. Here I’m uncovering an irrigation line that needs to be relocated. It’s a little hard to see, but those pavers are about nine inch hexagon things. I’ve moved about 250 so far and figure I’ve moved maybe 10% of what will have to be moved. I could be wrong, I tried counting but it was hot and there was no ice for a cold drink (see above about the ice maker).
Well, that’s it for this week. This week the electrician is scheduled for Wednesday, my irrigation parts arrive Thursday, and if it really gets hot, I’ll buy a bag of ice from the store. If you need me, I’ll be standing by the freezer checking on the progress of the ice trays.
Moving those pavers! Is your back okay?
Sorry about all the sigh-worthy items. Hope the ice trays have finished! 🙂

I only lift four at a time. It’s going to take a long time to do this.

That’s a lot, no wonder you have no time for writing.

It sure is, but then you will enjoy yourself in the Fall.

Argh! It’s a sad state of affairs when slinging concrete pavers is a “nice break” from the kitchen reno. Here’s hoping you have ice again soon!

and when I don’t have pavers to carry around, I can dig trenches for the new irrigation … the fun never ends here!

You have a lot going on over there, Andrew! 2,500 pavers, oh my. Safe to say you don’t need to go to the gym; you’re getting your strength training right there in your backyard. I’m reminded of when we remodeled our own kitchen; about a three-month project, The contractor’s wife used some kind of software to dovetail the subcontractor work, so one would show up as soon as the previous one was done. Based on your experience I should be thankful we had no delays.

My guy has software like that too, sadly the electrician didn’t.

All of your hard work is commendable, but I’m tired already! 🙂

I am not jealous of this project though I may be when you get done. Ice trays–I got those. Our ice maker is on-again-off-again.

Your September timetable is probably closer to accurate unfortunately. When I lived in the Chicago area, we did an addition on our home. All I will say is that I wish you the best.
Are you re-using the pavers? There sure are a lot of them. I think approaching it a bit at a time is really the only way. Pace yourself.
Have a good week. May the ice flow…

I’m reusing some of the pavers, but about half will have to be given away or sold somewhere.
