This last week we had the last of the major work done on the kitchen and we’ve moved back into it:

There’s a little bit of work left on our new fireplace:

The logs and remote control needs to be setup and tested. The service guy is scheduled to come by this week to do that. We are going to get a mantle over the fireplace and are just waiting to that to be delivered. Other than those two details, the kitchen is 100% done. It nice to have a real stove and a real kitchen sink to use. The project only took six weeks longer than I was expecting. Now I have time to move on to other projects. Like:

It’s a little hard to see in this picture, but I have all the concrete posts set for the deck project. Here’s a close up:

There are six of these. Each is 8 inches in diameter and is sunk down about 18 inches. It took a long time to dig the holes but pouring the concrete only took a day. Now I have to wait a week for the concrete to cure before I can start the next phase which is installing the main beams.
This next week is supposed to be hot here, many in the low 100’s so I don’t know how much I’ll be working on the project, but I want to make some progress even if it’s just buying the materials. That’s it for this week and if you need me, I’m drinking ice water and watching the thermometer.
Your kitchen looks so good. Want to come down and do mine? All my cabinets need replacement.

Oh, wow! Your kitchen is beautiful! I’m sure you’ll enjoy cooking up a storm in there.
And your concrete pilings are beautiful in a different way: The beauty of progress. Looking forward to seeing your new deck! 🙂

Yes, I’ve got about three good months I can work on garden projects before the weather changes.

I think you did good, Andrew. Now for the master bedroom…

The master bathroom will have to wait till spring — I’ve had enough of construction crews for awhile.

Just so you get the deck project gets done before it snows.
Love the soft green walls.

That’s the goal on the deck — don’t want to be working on that in the winter.
