I’ve just updated my “about” page. I like it.
Holy week is a special time for me. The story of that week defines my beliefs as a follower of Jesus’s teachings. I hesitate to say “Christian” because the word has become so over used that it is loosing its meaning. I do attend church and regularly study the Bible. I have faith and doubts and on some Sundays would rather be in my wood shop making sawdust rather then listening to organ music. There are times that a good old sea shanty is more soul satisfying than “Amazing Grace.”
No thunder bolt yet.
The next few posts will be about a journey I am taking in my mind with the help of the book, “The Last Week” by Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan. I have read a number of books by these two and am delighted that in some circles Crossan has been labeled a heretic. “The Last Week” follows the activities of Jesus during his last week as told in the Gospel of Mark. I highly recommend that you read the book – both “The Last Week” and the Gospel of Mark.
My professional life is all about creating engineering process and I’ve decided to approach my task for the week with a defined process.
Each night I’ll read the chapter for the next day. In the morning I shall approach my computer and write a post with my feelings about the chapter and the events I’ve attended at my church. The only rule of writing is that I write something. It’s a bit of an experiment. No promises on the content.
We’ll see where it goes. It starts here and goes there.
