Just in time for Valentine’s day: A heart shaped box.
This is a project that our marquetry club did last weekend. It’s a band saw box about five inches across. I didn’t get my 100% finished, so here are the progress pictures. The next step is to complete the marquetry for the top – a heart shaped Celtic knot. Then a bit of sanding and some wipe on ploy for a finish.
I hope to get some time this weekend to finish the marquetry. Might write a poem about it this week.
If you need me – I’ll be in the shop,
Andrew

I love the Celtic knot – watching to see how that turns out. The heart box is lovely.

Nice work, Andrew. I like how the lid swings out of the way on a pivot. Where did you make you entry cut to remove the waste from the middle of the saw? You clearly did a good job as it’s not easy to spot! 😉

The blade entry was done between the top heart lobes. The photo hides it well. In person you can find it if you look hard enough. I tried to keep the blade running with the grain to help hide it. Thanks

I was thinking of getting 2 pounds of it – one for the box and one for me…
