I haven’t been in the workshop much as I’ve been doing extra writing this last week, but we did ‘outsource’ some work around the house. These aren’t the best pictures of the project as my backyard isn’t deep enough to get it all in one photo, but here are two photos of the sun room/cat room the contractor is building for us.

It’s a long narrow room, 18 feet long by 6 feet wide. Yes, that’s a cat door built into the wall, just under the window.
Originally this was going to be Heather’s art studio, but after the kitty invasion we’ve adjusted plans. Heather’s art studio is being moved to the guest room and when completed this will be the kitten’s new apartment. It will feature a private entrance, custom cat furniture, three litter boxes, and it’s very own exhaust fan for the more odorous events.
If you need me – I’ll be in the shop

I think you have some really lucky cats.

Really like this space! Awesome windows and doors too!

Thanks – we’re liking this too. When we first thought about this, we were thinking of just getting cheap windows from the local big box, but then decided to just spend the money and get it done with really good windows.

Is the cat door so high off the ground to keep out less “jumpy” animals? Just curious.

my cats are the jumpiest animals around here…
The door is that high because of something the picture doesn’t show – the planter box outside the window. On the outside the cat door is level with the planting bed and on the inside I am going to make them a little kitty ladder so they can get in and out.

Ah. Mystery solved. Now I’ll be able to sleep tonight. Kitty ladder–how cute!

Do you have any orange kittens? I love orange kittens!

sadly no, orange kittens. Currently we have a monochrome set of kittens, two black and white and two gray and white.

Still very cute, no doubt.

Now there are two genuine cat lovers for you. I’ve never known anyone to build kitties a condo of their own before.

We like to think of it as an “investment” in our home, and I am actively working on embracing the title, “Crazy cat man who lives next door.” Figure this gets me part of the way there.

This gets you all the way there, Andrew, but nothing wrong with that.

That is amazing, Andrew. Your kitties are quite lucky. Your wife is OK giving up her studio? Although a spare room may be sufficient.
I love panoramas. I got into they at a conference I went to–discovered them on my smartphone. No better way to show the breadth and size of something.

I’ve thought the guestroom would be better for her studio as it has more space, better lighting and a better heater for the winter. Heather’s the real photographer in the house. I posted these pictures because I was too impatient to wait for her to get good pictures. I’ve played with the panorama feature on my phone – wish I’d remembered about it when I snapped these shots. Maybe I should stick to writing.

I only use panorama because it’s so easy on an Apple. Check this post with great panoramics–don’t they tell a story?http://askatechteacher.com/2015/06/04/the-maker-movement-in-education/
