It’s been cold out here, so I’ve not been in my unheated shop this week. Instead Heather and I took a hike in Alum Rock Park. This park has been a part of San Jose since 1872. My mother told stories of going there as a child in the 1930s and Heather took her children there in the 70’s. I haven’t been to the park in at least 30 years, so it was interesting to see the differences.
The day was clear and cold. We were treated to nice views over the Santa Clara Valley. We were a bit saddened to see how the city is encroaching on the park. This use to be so far out-of-town, but now there are houses on the hills overlooking the park.
Here are a some pictures of the day:

My home town.

The trail down from Eagle Rock. Eagle Rock is on the right – the big rock thing.

The park, pictured from the North ridge.
That’s it for this week.
If you need my – I’ll be making hot chocolate.

Thanks for the photo tour of Alum Park. The last time I was in San Jose it was for a Sci-fi and Fantasy convention..I never got out of the hotel because no one wanted to leave to take me on a site seeing tour.

I think your area was well above the average temperature in the US of 16 degrees. Me, too–had no coldness walking the dog.

It was about 53 where we were walking – California cold, but then I put on a coat when temps dip below 80. 🙂
