Wednesday Working – Shed and Deck Box

Well, just some pictures today. We got the shelves and counter in Heather’s shed and she’s finished setting it. Here’s what it looks like:

We put in some shelves and a cart.

And, yes here is Heather’s art setup. She does both oil and water colors on this.

I started a new project – a deck box to hold the cushions for out patio furniture. This box is being made from materials salvaged from the shed I took down in the spring. The main box is done and just needs a lid. Here’s what I have right now:

This is 4′ by 2′ and 2.5′ tall. It will get a coat of paint.

It’s been a fun project, but working with used wood and siding can be a pain as much of it is unusable and there’s a lot that just has to be trashed.

    Ah, the cushion box is a great idea. I need something similar to keep the squirrels from lunching on mine. Also, you’ve inspired me to at least clean up my own little shed out at the barn, if not consider some built-ins and other storage to make it truly useful. Well done already!

    Can you use the trashable wood for a bonfire at least? If you’re allowed to have those. So cool that you can build your own box for cushions. I can only build a box out of cushions.

    So practical and really nice, Andrew. I am impressed with the repurposed wood for the deck box. We have a decent box intended for the same purpose, patio cushions and outdoor items, but we had to buy it and it isn’t nearly as nice as your custom work. 😉

    Everybody needs quick and easy access (and off-season protection) for patio stuff. My current house doesn’t even have a garage door that opens to the backyard. A real inconvenience.

      We have a couple of plastic deck boxes, but last year bought a new set that has bigger cushions that don’t fit in to the boxes we had, so I just thought I make one. and, you a problem there.

    It is really coming along nicely. The box for the cushions is a brilliant idea. It will serve a useful purpose and it is great you used materials from the old building for it. Win/win. 🙂

      I’d like to use up as much of the material from the shed demolition as I can. I have a couple of more projects that I think will use all the usable materials.
