Happy Thanksgiving!

I’ve not been posting much lately. My energy level for writing is very low at the moment, but I thought I’d post a couple of pictures of my deck project. I finished the main deck but haven’t finished the roof on the Gazebo:

Under the green tarp are the parts to finish the roof. I might not finish this before the winter sets in hard, but I might get a clear afternoon or two to work on it.

Here’s a close up of the deck material I used:

This is a composite material from Trex. It’s heavy to move around but it cuts easily and installs fast.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Wow, that’s a lot of progress Andrew! I especially like the corner braces; more than just angled bits of wood. I expect you’ll be showing us “in-use” photos by next summer.

  5. Wow, it looks great! And the best thing about Trex is that it will continue to look great, without any maintenance. As a former owner of a cedar deck that needed to be refinished every year, I love Trex!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Looks great! We recently had our decks replaced with a composite and I am not finding it to be slippery with the wet snow we’ve had.

  12. Looks great, Andrew. Trex is the best. But one thing we learned–the hard way–is that Trex becomes extremely slippery in snow or ice. Much more slippery than standard wood or concrete.

I’m so jealous. I was told my deck was Trex when I bought this house, and it’s no such thing. Warping, etc. Ugh.

Have you gotten any snow yet? Not a flake in Denver so far … our second longest spell in history with no snow.

You’ve earned your down time. Relax and have a great turkey day!

  15. Our front porch and back deck are made of something similar, but we hired it done. No wonder you’re low on energy, Andrew. I hope someone else fixes the turkey and mashes the potatoes for you this week. (Our kids are moving this week, so we may head to Perkins!)
