Wacky week here. Last week it was too hot and today we’ve got light rain. As promised, I snapped a couple of shots of the planter box. This is an addition to the deck. It’s not finished, but hopefully I’ll have time this weekend to put on the last couple of boards.
Here’s the progress so far:

View facing the deck. You can see the back is missing to the box.

Looking down from the deck. Someday, nice plants will be here.

View of the inside. It has two levels.
That’s all that was going on in the shop this week. Likely there won’t be much next week, but I’ll have sometime.
If you need me – I’ll be in the shop,
Andrew

We have a small Acer (Japanese Maple) for the larger side and haven’t decided on the smaller side. Plant selection is my wife’s job. I’ll post a picture of what we finally plant there.

The maple will look lovely.

Love the planter boxes. I like that they fit the space and are not generic like mine would be. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music

Thanks. I feel a project like this should be made to fit the space, not the space made to fit whatever the box big store is selling.

We love the deck. Likely the most useful yard project I’ve done.

My husband has done some wood work around our house, too, and it’s something to be proud of. It’s another form of art. 🙂

Do you need any special treatment to keep the wood from rotting?

no, I am using redwood. It will last for 15-20 years before it needs to be replaced.
