Wednesday Woodworking – Cleanup Progress

I’ve managed to get a few working sessions in the shop and now have some real progress on the shop reorg.

The old kitchen cabinet is in its new home.  The stuff on top is waiting for me to sort it out.  Some goes to trash and some goes in the drawers.  The grinder is likely to stay there.

Look - enough room to open the doors and drawers!

The old workbench that was here has been returned to kit form – that is torn to pieces and gone. Now my chop saw and router table (the thing under the cover) will live here.  Yes, that is a fire extinguisher. Yes, I need one in the shop. No I haven’t set anything on fire for years. No, I don’t want to talk about it.

Open floor. The bags are waiting for room in the trash can.

The project is far from done, but I am making slow progress.

I would have made more progress, but last Saturday was the quarterly marquetry workshop where we made tissue boxes.  I didn’t finish mine, but I am making a twin of this box I made a few years ago:

Turtle Tissue Box

Turtle Tissue Box

The pattern is a Hawaiian petroglyph.  I saw one the last time I was on the big island and liked it.  This box normally lives in our Hawaiian themed bathroom.  The new tissue box will be for this year’s Christmas gifts.

If you need me – I’ll be in the shop,
Andrew

  2. Must say, I’ve never seen or heard of a Hawaiin themed bathroom. I’m liking the vision in my mind…very colourful? The tissue box is very impressive. Just imagining the puzzle of it all; looks simple and complicated all at the same time.

The narrative about the fire extinguisher had me laughing. So many ways to imagine that scenario. :–)

Cleaning is a chore that take time, effort, and few people notice.
