Wednesday Pictures – Creek and Cat

My shop clean is progressing, but nothing really exciting to show.  Instead here are a couple of other things that happened this week.

The rains have stopped here in California and the river levels are falling everywhere.  Here is a current picture of the creek near my office.  Last month I posted a picture of this creek at flood stage.  This month it’s slowly drying up.

On the far bank is the diversion control structure for the percolation ponds. The diversion dam is down at the moment.

Last month the place I am standing was under about four feet of water.  On the far bank you can see a dark line on the concrete wall – that’s the high water mark, about 15 feet above the current creek level.  This is how California’s water goes – one day too much and the next day not enough.

I should also not that this year’s rain was truly exceptional.  This has been the wettest year in a century and part of a 10 year cycle we get.  Likely this creek won’t see these levels again for five to ten years.

This is the “Los Gatos” creek or in English, “The Cats” creek so naturally I’ll have to include a cute cat picture.  Here is Boots Kitty:

Boots on my clean pants.

Not the best picture, but Boots likes clean laundry to sleep on.  Here she’s found my brand new jeans than Heather had just taken out of the drier.

If you need me – I’ll be down by the creek,

Andrew

  1. So how often do you launder your sheets so that you too may sleep on clean linens?

Looks like it’s time to check the river banks and see what washed downstream during the rains.

  5. We had the dang-hardest time finding our cat one day, only to discover he crawled into a drawer and unseen, the drawer was pushed shut. No idea how long he was in there, but he didn’t seem at all bothered by the situation. Only annoyed that his nap was interrupted.
    Cats are strange! 😄

  6. Ah, cleaning off that fur. Is it as bad for cats as dogs?

No self-respecting cat is going to sleep on dirty laundry. Clean is much preferred, especially if still warm from the dryer.
