Last time I mentioned I was going to build a greenhouse. Well, I am. I bought a kit for a 9×6 greenhouse. It came in 9 boxes:
Well, seven boxes and two really long tubes. It took me most of a morning to unpack and I ended up with a deck full of parts:
Plus a few things stacked behind the shed:
Which left a pile of empty boxes:
The instructions are about 156 pages long covering about 137 total assembly steps. I’m up to step 14 and this is what I have so far:

It’s taken me three mornings to get this far. There’s a lot left to do. I can only work on this in the mornings as it just too hot in the afternoons and … well my back starts complaining after about 20 minutes of work … sigh …
The next step is to level and square everything up then I can start putting on the side panels and the roof — it came with a roof — somewhere in one of those boxes were parts for a roof. Right now I figure it will take another week of mornings to complete. I couldn’t work on it today as we had major thunderstorms and the lightning kept me indoors.

You don’t let the grass grow under your feet, do you, Andrew? (Is that the expression?) Anyway, huzzah to this new project. I look forward to watching it’s progress, much like the others!

We’re not suppose to grow grass in the desert (water restrictions) so I got to do something to keep it from growing and yes, that’s the expression.

Wowza, talk about a blog post right up my alley! Your greenhouse is like a giant LEGO set! Looking forward to the subsequent steps/adventures leading on up to the finished product. “Level and square everything up”…. ha, not something I have to worry about with LEGO pieces! I prefer projects much smaller than myself 🙂

It is like a giant LEGO set with bigger pieces. The instruction manual is impressive too: 158 pages with 137 steps. So far I’m 42% done … and my back hurts …

Back pain isn’t nice. Perhaps it will improve as you get more used to the work. I have arthritis in my lower back and hips. It is hereditary. Thankfully it’s still early stage and I’m taking a bunch of preventative medications. It still gets achy when I sit for to long or get stressed.

Your greenhouse is going to be beautiful! We were the happy recipients of a not-nearly-as-attractive (but free) greenhouse kit which we have yet to build. Our stacks of pieces are all laid out, and I’m sure it will be an “interesting” undertaking, since we’re not even certain we have all the necessary parts. Here’s hoping your assembly goes smoothly, and your back doesn’t complain too much!

It is an “interesting” process. There are hundreds of parts included many bags of hardware. So far it’s going well, but it can take awhile to find the right piece in the stack.
