No woodworking this week as I’ve been on vacation.
This last weekend Heather and I traveled to Florida for our daughter’s wedding on the beach of Anna Maria Island. They rented a beach house and gathered the whole family for the weekend to enjoy the celebration. I didn’t do much except eat, drink and enjoy. On our last night on the island we walked out to watch the sunset.

Sunset on Anna Maria Island
I have no idea who the person is in this photo. There were a lot of people on the beach and all seemed to want to get into my photos. Still, it’s kind of an interesting picture: lone person, birds and the setting sun. I feel a poem coming on…
The light on these trees was interesting.

Trees in the waning light. Yes, that’s my shadow.
This is the beach next to the house.

A beach at sunset.
Our daughter and her new wife are now on their honeymoon somewhere far, far away enjoy a well-earned rest and time alone.
But with the joy of Facebook and Instagram we did get to see what they had for dinner tonight…
If you need me – I’ll be at the airport.
Andrew

the lighting on some of those pics makes the sand look like snow, or maybe I just have snow on the brain!

Even in person it looks a bit like snow.

Where is the at least one obligatory wedding photo?

I knew I forgot something on this post. Reason number six why they didn’t ask me to do the wedding photos.

Congratulations! Beautiful photos. I especially like the sunset and birds. I did a double take on the white sand like some others too. Sure looks like snow.

It sure does. It even packs a bit like snow. I was a boy pickup a handful, compact it, throw a sand ball at his sister and get in big trouble with dad. Just like snow…

Wonderful! The woodshop will be there when you return 🙂 I swear I did a double take on the sand/snow pictures. Glad to read it is indeed still warm in Florida without snow covered beaches.

The island has the whitest sand I’ve ever seen. It was very warm there. This weekend I’ll be back in my cold shop.

We really like Anna Marie Island…feels like Florida fifty years ago. No high rises, I thjnk nothing over three stories high. Nice beach, beautiful water, great food. Hope you enjoyed your mini vacation.
Congratulations on your daughter’s wedding.

Wonderful place both for a wedding and a break. Was the wedding on the beech?
I have looked up Anna Maria island and am having wishful thoughts. Much worse jet lag from old U.K. though. Sun-starved people might just……:)

This wedding was done just on the edge of the beach on a wooden walkway. There were other wedding parties there who set up right at the water’s edge. and yes, the jet lag would be worse for our UK friends, but worth it, really worth it.

I’ll start writing as soon as I get over the jet lag and don’t keep falling asleep at the keyboard.

Congratulations, Andrew. What fun, to launch a child. My kids are late-20’s and not even close to pairing up. They need to get moving!

It was a fun weekend. Keep the pressure on them. Leave copies of Brides Illustrated around your house…

Congratulations to your daughter. I presume that the sand is pure white rather than Florida has been hit by an unexpected blizzard!

Thanks. The only blizzard came from the air conditioner. The sand is pure white, mostly from ground sea shells. Lots of shell fish around here.

I’m sure you had a beautiful time at the wedding. The setting was certainly perfect. Unfortunately it’s now welcome back to reality. Back to the woodworking please. No more skiving.
