I’ve been doing these Friday Wisdom things for a few years now and after all that time the most difficult thing is to come up with a topic each week. While it seems like I have a endless number of funnies, I am starting to realize that I’m repeating myself more often. Also, “Friday Wisdom” is starting to become the only post I do in a week. I’m thinking of making some changes in how I blog. If you have any suggestions for me, let me know in the comments. After 12 years of blogging, it feels like time to do some changing. Today I am going out to lunch so here’s everything I know about lunch:
When you come to a fork in the road. Just stop and have lunch.
I invited a snowman to lunch. We had ice burg-ers.
I read that smoking will kill, that bacon will kill you, but smoking bacon will cure it …
I entered what I ate for lunch into my fitness app – it dialed 911 on me.
I just burned 2,000 calories. Never take a nap while you brownies in the oven.
A preacher was being chased by a grizzly bear in the woods. The preacher started to pray saying, “God, turn this bear into a Christian.” Instantly the bear fell on its knee, put its paws together and said, “Dear God, for the food I’m about to eat …”
I wanted to surprise my wife by cooking lunch for her, but the smoke alarm ruined the surprise.
I went to the store and asked for a large fish. The man at the counter said, “Sure, won’t be long.” I said, “well it had better be wide.”
I’ll tell you what’s hard to beat: Hard boiled eggs.
A priest, a pastor, and a rabbit walk into a bar. The rabbit says, “I’m only here because of autocorrect.”
My banker always eats lunch by himself. Well, he is a loaner …
Did you know that ducks eat lunch? Usually just soup and quackers.
I won’t forget the auto-corrected rabbit (even though he shouldn’t really be there). Really enjoy your posts, Andrew, but if “chore” ever enters your thoughts then it’s not worth your valuable time. Perhaps “As The Pizza Cooks” becomes your new focus, with fewer words and more schedule flexibility. However you choose to go about it, I hope you continue to hang out in the WP neighborhood.

I’ll be around, but somethings will change.

I enjoy your weekly funnies. I understand the need for change. THINK over it. For my blog, it’s been 8 years. I felt the same last year. Many weeks I didn’t have anything interesting to talk about, but I didn’t want to quit, because I enjoy the interaction with all of you bloggers. I think this is a change of life. COVID has been hard and I think it made all of us go within, which wasn’t the best thing. I think you know what I mean. So… for some reason, this year I have renewed ENERGY to write. It will happen for YOU too. Spring is coming, that helps. NEW IDEAS come. I think you live in Las Vegas. You could write a comparison with all the hotels there. I find them interesting… the Venetian, Paris, Ceaser’s, etc. Someone said they could sky dive there. I know there ar a lot of museums there too. I bet there are a lot of funny stories to share.

I live in Northern Nevada and a long way from Vegas. Still there are a lot of interesting things here to see. Something will come up.

I certainly understand the need for change, but I haven’t been here for the entire twelve years, so it is all new to me. I used to blog on a site called “Lumberjocks” to the tune of 1800+ posts. I would wake up every morning and just write a stream of thought and map out my day. Then the site changed and the world changed and it just didn’t feel right anymore. So I migrated to WordPress and have just lately been able to keep up with one post a week – let alone one a day. I don’t know how I did it back then. It wasn’t that I didn’t have material to show, but things would build up and I would have too much to talk about. It would overwhelm me. Habits are hard things.
I do love your Friday posts, but I also really (really!) love the post about your creative adventures. Whether it be in the yard, your shop, or your quilting or poetry, I always find them interesting and informative. You have a nice writing style and I love relaxing with a cup of coffee (like now) and seeing “what is Andrew up to.” It is inspiring.
Whatever you decide, I hope you continue to be here. I don’t follow many but enjoy your posts very much. Thanks for the time you take to tell your story. 🙂

I’ve have had a few changes over the years. I started these Friday posts a few years ago and folks like it, but they’re starting to become a chore to write. We’ll see what happens.

“Smoking bacon will cure it” – ha! The autocorrect ‘rabbit’ made me laugh, too.

The calories and the brownies, groan. 🙂 I’ve been blogging for the same amount of time and have made subtle changes over the years. But I don’t have a set schedule for blogging, and though I share mostly poetry, I’ll share stories and book reviews too; inspiration is the driver. So I do try to mix things up a bit. You have to do what sounds good to you. I’ve always enjoyed these wisdom posts.

I think I probably prefer “I wanted to surprise my wife …….” but the rabbit and autocorrect is really a lot cleverer. Overall, one of your best collections for a while, and thanks for sharing them with us.
