Friday Wisdom – Birds

What kind of a university would a bird choose to go to? A polytechnic.

Did you hear that the parrot escaped? Yeah, it’s a polygon.

My bird was sick so I took it to the vet for a tweetment.

What do you call a bird who’s written its first book? A fledgling author.

My house was robbed while I was taking a bath. The Police think it was a robber ducky.

My friend just called and said he had the bird flu. Yup, another victim of fowl plague.

A crowbar – a place where birds stop for a drink.

Do birds really know where they’re going for the winter? Or do they just wing it?

Which bird can lift the most weight? The crane

The sight of a bald eagle in the wild has thrilled men for generations. However, the sight of a wild bald man has done nothing for the eagle.

Wednesday Hiking

We went hiking yesterday. This trail is on the eastern Sierra just above the Reno basin. The snow has melted on the lower trails so we managed a short hike yesterday.

Here’s a couple of pictures:

There were a few patches of snow left, but full hiking season is just around the corner. This was just a short hike as my knee isn’t doing well at the moment, but hopefully that will resolve itself soon.

Next time we’re hoping for a longer hike closer to the Tahoe Rim.

If you need me, I’m looking for my knee brace …

Friday Wisdom – Mechanics

A robot mechanic is never lonely – they’re always making new friends.

Stopped by the local car repair shop and all the mechanics were drinking coffee – I think they were on a brake.

I told the repair shop that my car was making this strange humming noise. They said it’s likely because my car didn’t know the words.

Does a mechanic need a current license to work on an electric car?

I thought of becoming an elevator mechanic, but I’ve been told the job has serious ups and downs.

I dreamed that I was a mechanic fixing wreaked cars – it was an auto body experience.

To make a mechanical frog, you can’t use bolts. You have to use rivets.

A jumper cable walks into a bar and the bartender yells, “Don’t start anything.”

Never trust a car repair man who rides a bicycle to work.

The mechanic just finished install a new tail pipe. He was exhausted.

We couldn’t fix your brakes, so we made you horn louder.

Is it true that Honda mechanics have to take Civics lessons?

Wednesday Woodworking – Table Saw and Insulation

I’ve been working on getting my new table saw up and running. Here’s where I am:

almost ready to use.

I still need to get the fence installed and then I can actually start cutting wood.

One of the reasons I bought this saw is its safety feature. If you finger should come in contact with the blade, it will stop and you won’t lose a digit. Here’s a video demonstrating on a hot dog:

My order for insulation for the shop shed showed up today so this week I’ll be making more progress there. The drywall is on order and I’m hoping in a month or so I’ll be able to start setting up the shop out there.

Insulation for the shop.

There has been a number of things in the garden, but nothing worth a picture at the moment.

If you need me – I’ll be in the shop.
